One of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia, Bangladesh, has seen a spike in unemployment rates following the Covid-19 pandemic. The country is still recovering from the damage done during this pandemic, but the fall in unemployment rates is still going at a languid pace.

Shaathi Bangladesh Limited has opened a sewing center in Korail slum to teach underprivileged women and girls how to make reusable sanitary napkins for free. Shaathi held a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 30, to celebrate the opening of the sewing center in Korail slum. The project "Give women the gift of Independence" is sponsored by First Security Islami Bank Limited (FSIBL) to empower women and girls so they can achieve economic independence, understand their reproductive and sexual health options, and regain the power to shape their lives.

Nibedita is a non-profit organisation founded by Anika Islam in 2018, which aims for women empowerment. It provides free training for women in digital marketing skills, entrepreneurship, lifestyle modification, and career placement. 

Takia Sultana Nova, a third-year student of International Islamic University Chittagong, received the IVD Bangladesh Volunteer Award 2021, securing the third place.  She has successfully empowered over 400 women by teaching them how to ride scooters.

Young political leaders have combatted child marriage as participants of the US and UK government-funded Young Leaders Fellowship Programme (YLFP), implemented by Democracy International.

Masrur Ishraq founded Third Eye in 2019 to help the visually impaired students at his educational institution, University of Chittagong (CU). For his efforts, he won the Joy Bangla Youth Award for social inclusion in 2021.

Mental health advocate Zoya Ahmed recently launched an awareness campaign in the capital with the support of volunteers Diti Roy, Amena Ahmed, Fabia Firoze, Tahsin Navid, and some of the country's most popular young faces, including Tamim Mridha, Don Sumdany, and Swapnil Shojib.

BoiBondhu started out in 2018 with an objective to promote reading. The organisation has built small libraries inside buses and hospitals, among other public places.

Dhrubotara Youth Development Foundation (DYDF) focuses on training young people on leadership, eradicating poverty, and creating livelihoods through small loans and employment. The foundation was established in 2000. 

 The International Conference on Emerging Technology in Computing, Communication and Electronics (ETCCE), kicked off virtually recently. The conference was technically co-sponsored by IEEE Bangladesh Section, and is jointly organised by the Department of CSE of United International University (UIU), Bangladesh and University of Wolverhampton, UK, and Fordham University, USA.

Afruza Tanzi is one of the 19 Bangladeshi recipients of the 2021 Diana Award. She was born and brought up in Sylhet, where she attended Bluebird School and College. Tanzi came to Dhaka in 2017 to complete her Bachelor’s in Biotechnology at BRAC University, where she is now a final year student.
