CU JCD announces 420-member full committee after two years
After two years, the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) central leadership has announced a 420-member full-fledged committee for its Chittagong University (CU) unit.
The committee was approved through a press release signed by JCD Central President Rakibul Islam and General Secretary Nasir Uddin at around 10:00pm on Wednesday.
In the newly formed committee, 55 have been named vice presidents, 92 joint general secretaries, 63 assistant general secretaries, 64 assistant organising secretaries, and 62 members.
CU JCD Vice President Towhidul Islam Bhuiyan said, "After a long time, the central Chhatra Dal has announced a full-fledged committee. I'm delighted to be included in it. The organisation has deemed me capable of this role, and I will carry out my duties with sincerity."
CU JCD General Secretary Abdullah Al Noman said, "We have included those who have sacrificed for the organisation, fought on the streets, and stood by the students' movements for their rights."
Earlier, on August 11, 2023, a five-member partial committee of the CU JCD was announced. The committee named Mohammad Alauddin Mohsin of the political science department (session 2008–09) as president and Abdullah Al Noman of the same department (session 2009–10) as general secretary.
According to the Chhatra Dal constitution, the tenure of a committee is two years. A full committee must be formed within one month of announcing a partial one, but the CU unit failed to do so within the timeframe.
