Swadhin Bangla Betar spirit returns with Bulbul Mahalanobish
Her writing career and organisational life take up much of her time but she did not neglect her melodious voice. Bulbul Mahalanobish once again proved her versatility as a singer last Saturday at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre. She sang 20 famous songs by Rabindranath, Nazrul, Lalon, Hason Raja, Dwijendra Lal, Atul Prasad, and also from different genres like Vaoaiya, and Bhatiyali.
Songs like Amar desher matir gondhe bhore ache..., O Bhai khati sonar cheye khati amar desher mati.., Tomai Gaan Shonabo...., Tumi Nirmala koro Mongolo Koro..., Nodir kul Nai Kinar nai re..., Sob Lokay Koy Lalon ki jaat Songsare..., etc mesmerized the audience.
She honed her talent from various mentors like Altaf Mahmud, Nitai Roy, Shudhin Das and also Pandit Bareen Majumder. During the Bangladesh Liberation War days in 1971, Bulbul was a prominent singer and also a drama artiste at the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra.
Yes, she is the voice talent who used to play the role of Yahaya Khan' s wife in Jallader Darbar. As a member of the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra music squad, she performed in various locations and the collected proceeds were presented to the Bangladesh Government.
