Facebook, WhatsApp reportedly inaccessible in the country
Facebook and WhatsApp, two widely used social media platforms, are reportedly inaccessible in Bangladesh as of today. Users across the country have reported issues with accessing both platforms, with attempts resulting in error messages and connection failures.
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has not yet provided an official statement regarding the cause of the disruption. The inaccessibility of these platforms coincides with recent directive by the government agency to suspend 4G mobile internet services.
This disruption follows a series of internet service interruptions in the country. During the quota reform movement in July, mobile internet services were halted, and several social media platforms, including Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Tiktok, were temporarily blocked. Although some services were restored shortly after, access to certain platforms remained restricted.
