Elon Musk's private jets undertook 355 flights between January to mid-December in 2024, including 31 to or from areas near Mar-a-Lago, the Florida residence of President-elect Donald Trump, according to a recent report by Business Insider.

The flight patterns suggest a possible alignment between Musk's travel schedule and his political engagements with over half of the jets' trips since November 5 have been to or from near Mar-a-Lago.

The first recorded trip to the Palm Beach area where Mar-a-Lago is located, occurred on 17 February. Later reports by The Wall Street Journal revealed that Musk had met with Trump to discuss a potential role in the new administration. Following the presidential election, Musk's jets made 25 flights to and from the Palm Beach area.

However, it is unclear whether Musk was on each flight tracked or if the visits to the Palm Beach area were exclusively for meetings with Trump, as per the report by Business Insider.

In addition to Florida, Musk's jets took 13 trips to and from key swing states where he reportedly campaigned on behalf of Trump. Another 10 flights were recorded between various locations and the Washington, D.C., area, further indicating his active political involvement.

The two jets used in 2024 consumed approximately $2.5 million worth of fuel and emitted nearly 4,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide, according to data from JetSpy. This figure equates to around 250 times the average lifetime carbon emissions of an individual in the United States, per estimates from the International Energy Agency.

Despite these figures, 2024 marked a relative decline in Musk's aviation activity compared to the previous year, when his planes recorded 456 flights, according to Business Insider.
