Two xAI co-founders resign
Two of the original co-founders of Elon Musk's artificial intelligence firm xAI, Tony Wu and Jimmy Ba, have resigned, according to their social media posts.
The two announced their departures less than three years after founding the company with Musk. The exits mean half of xAI's 12 original co-founders have now left the firm, as per a Reuters report on the matter.
A report by the Financial Times stated that Ba's resignation followed internal tensions within the technical team over pressure to improve the performance of its AI models, as Musk pushes to compete with rivals like OpenAI. Ba did not immediately comment on the report. Neither co-founder specified their reasons for leaving or future plans in their announcements.
The departures come shortly after Musk's rocket company, SpaceX, announced its acquisition of xAI in a deal that values the combined entity at $1.25 trillion.
