Apple's September 2025 event titled "Awe Dropping", delivered a range of new devices and software, including the iPhone 17 series, updates to earbuds and watches, and a new version of its Final Cut Camera app.

iPhone 17 series

Apple unveiled four distinct models in its iPhone 17 lineup. The standard iPhone 17 features the new 'Center Stage' front camera, a dual 48-megapixel Fusion rear camera system, a larger 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion up to 120 Hz, Ceramic Shield 2 with three times the scratch resistance, and the A19 chip for enhanced performance and battery life. It is available in 256 GB and 512 GB storage variants.

iPhone 17

The iPhone 17 Air, announced as the thinnest iPhone ever at just 5.6 mm, employs a polished grade-5 titanium frame and Ceramic Shield on both front and back. It carries the A19 Pro, N1 and C1X chips to deliver better performance and efficiency, as per Apple. A 6.5-inch ProMotion display, a 48-megapixel Fusion camera system and an 18-megapixel 'Center Stage' front camera are among its key features. It is available in 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB storage variants.

iPhone 17 Air

At the top of the range, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max introduce a redesigned aluminium unibody with a built-in vapour chamber for superior thermal performance and extended battery life. 

Powered by the A19 Pro, they include three 48-megapixel Fusion rear cameras – including an 8x optical zoom telephoto – and the same 18-megapixel 'Center Stage' front sensor. Both support ProRes RAW, Apple Log 2 and genlock for professional video workflows. The displays are available in 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch sizes, with Ceramic Shield 2 front and back, ProMotion, 3 000-nit brightness, Always-On, and up to 4 times more crack resistance on the back glass than the previous models.

iPhone 17 Pro

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max come in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB options, while the Pro Max also offers a 2TB variant.

The iPhone 17 series starts at $799 for the standard model, rising to $999 for the iPhone 17 Air, $1,099 for the iPhone 17 Pro and $1,199 for the Pro Max. Pre-orders open on September 12 with the devices becoming available from September 19.

Apple Watch Ultra 3

At the event, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 was positioned as Apple's most advanced sports and health device. It includes a built-in satellite communication system allowing Emergency SOS, messaging and location sharing off the grid. It features the 'largest display ever' in an Apple Watch, a 42-hour battery life – extending to 72 hours in Low Power mode – and 5G cellular connectivity. Health enhancements include notifications for high blood pressure and a sleep-quality score. Updates to the Workout app include Workout Buddy, powered by Apple Intelligence.

Pricing starts at $799, with availability on September 19.

AirPods Pro 3

Apple also introduced the AirPods Pro 3. These earbuds offer in-ear Active Noise Cancellation, removing up to twice the ambient noise compared to the previous generation, according to Apple.

AirPods Pro 3 features foam-infused tips in five sizes, improved stability for exercise, IP57 resistance, and the ability to monitor heart rate during workouts across over 50 exercise types in the Fitness app. 

Live Translation, driven by Apple Intelligence, also arrives on AirPods for hands-free translation during in-person conversations.

Pricing starts at $249, with availability on September 19.

Apple Watch SE 3

In the mid-range segment, Apple Watch SE 3 brings significant upgrades. Health features now include sleep-score insights, retrospective ovulation estimates, sleep apnoea notifications and wrist-temperature sensing. 

The device introduces an Always-On display and fast charging, reaching up to 80 percent in about 45 minutes. The device is powered by the S10 chip, supports 5G cellular, and features a tougher Ion-X cover glass. watchOS 26 brings new gestures, watch faces and Workout Buddy, as per Apple.

Pricing starts at $249, with availability on September 19.

Apple Watch Series 11

Apple's flagship wearable, the Apple Watch Series 11, introduced hypertension notifications and a sleep-score feature to expand its health capabilities. The battery life extends up to 24 hours, and aluminium models feature Ion-X glass with twice the scratch resistance. 

The device also comes with 5G connectivity and supports fast charging, delivering around eight hours of life from just 15 minutes of charging.

Final Cut Camera 2.0

Apple also updated its Final Cut Camera app to version 2.0, expanding its capabilities on supported devices. On the iPhone 17 Pro models, the app now supports ProRes RAW and genlock, allowing filmmakers precise synchronisation with reference signals. 

It also brings manual adjustments to the Center Stage front camera and seamless integration with Live Multicam in Final Cut Pro for iPad. The update includes Open Gate recording, Apple Log 2 support and timecode options, enabling cinematic control directly from the iPhone.
