The National Board of Revenue (NBR) yesterday cautioned taxpayers about misleading social media posts promoting the filing of "zero returns", terming the practice illegal under the Income Tax Act 2023.
The move comes just over two weeks after the revenue authority imposed the tax to increase collection
The government has suspended 14 more officials of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for defying transfer orders and allegedly tearing up their transfer letters in public.
Major customs houses across Bangladesh, including that in Chattogram, have been facing delays in processing exports and imports for days now due to recurring slowdowns in the server that handles the records.
The National Board of Revenue will certainly be split once the flaws in the ordinance are corrected, said Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, accusing its drafters of “deliberately inserting loopholes” through “trickery”.
