Tigresses breeze past PNG
Bangladesh registered their second victory in the Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Kirtipur, Nepal, on Tuesday, defeating Papua New Guinea by 30 runs.
Put in to bat first at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Bangladesh posted a competitive 168 for five, powered by a rapid 37 off 14 balls from Shorna Akter, an unbeaten 34 off 24 balls from Sobhana Mostary, and 35 from opener Dilara Akter.
Sharmin Akter Supta, the standout performer in Bangladesh’s opening win against the USA, added 28 runs.
Papua New Guinea put up a spirited fight in reply, taking the chase deep before finishing on 138 for nine in 20 overs. However, three run-out dismissals proved costly for PNG.
Bangladesh shared the bowling workload, with six bowlers picking up one wicket each. They will face Namibia in their next Group A match on Thursday.
