Tamim regains consciousness, speaks with family

Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has regained consciousness and spoken with family members while in observation in the CCU of the KPJ Specialised Hospital following a successful stenting surgery.
The opener suffered a heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match at BKSP today and had to undergo a stenting operation to remove the block from his coronary artery.
Dr Moniruzzaman Maruf, the cardiologist who performed Tamim's surgery, told The Daily Star that at around noon, Tamim regained consciousness at the CCU and spoke with his family members.
He said that although Tamim's condition has improved considerably, he will remain under observation for the next 48 hours.
Earlier, at around 2:00 pm, KPJ Hospital held a press briefing where its media director Dr Rajib Hasan said that the stenting surgery went smoothly and the block on Tamim's artery was completely removed.
