Slogans, security, and a tense environment outside Mirpur stadium

Crowds gathered outside the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday as a tense situation persisted around the stadium area.

The crowd chanted slogans against some Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) directors, BCB vice-president Faruque Ahmed and former sports Adviser Asif Mahmud, who stepped down from the role on Wednesday.

The group, who did not protest under any banner, alleged Asif and Faruque of corruption and demanded for the Anti-Corruption Commission to conduct an investigation against them.

Member of the armed forces were deployed inside the stadium premises and the police were also seen monitoring the situation.

Security was heightened near the stadium entrances as one board director was seen arriving at the BCB, according to media reports, while chants continued outside.
