Gillespie calls Aaqib a 'clown' over coaching ambitions

Former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie has strongly criticised Pakistan's current interim head coach Aaqib Javed, calling him a "clown" in a social media post.
Gillespie accused Javed of trying to secure the coaching role in all formats by working behind the scenes.
Javed recently spoke about the frequent changes in Pakistan's team management and selection, saying that such instability has hurt the team's performance.
During a press conference, he pointed out that Pakistan had changed 16 coaches and 26 selectors in just two years. He argued that no team could succeed with so many changes and emphasised the need for stability.
Pakistan, the host of the ICC Champions Trophy, was eliminated in the group stage after losing to New Zealand and India. Their last match against Bangladesh was washed out due to rain.
Gillespie dismissed Javed's remarks and accused him of working against him and former limited-overs coach Gary Kirsten. Gillespie, who played 71 Tests and 97 ODIs for Australia, was appointed as Pakistan's Test coach in April on a two-year contract but resigned within eight months due to poor results. His departure followed Kirsten's resignation in October.
"Aaqib was clearly undermining Gary and me behind the scenes, campaigning to be the coach in all formats," Gillespie wrote on social media. "He is a clown."
Javed was initially appointed as interim coach only for the Champions Trophy. However, since the Pakistan Cricket Board has not named a permanent replacement, he will continue in the role for the upcoming tour of New Zealand, starting on March 16.
