Prices of flights and hotel bookings to Colombo, Sri Lanka, have soared as thousands of fans flock to the city to watch India play Pakistan on Sunday in cricket's Twenty20 World Cup.

The outcome of the tripartite discussions between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), International Cricket Council (ICC) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in Lahore on Sunday is yet to be officially disclosed, but speculation over it have run amok yesterday, completely overshadowing Pakistan’s bid for revenge against the USA in an ICC T20 World Cup match today.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) issued a press release on Monday night, referring to the outcomes of a tripartite meeting involving the world governing body, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), held over the last two days in Lahore.

During a meeting with ICC officials at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi outlined the conditions.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul has reportedly flown to Pakistan early on Sunday morning to attend an emergency virtual meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC) over Pakistan's boycott of the India-Pakistan World Cup match on February 15.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) president Mohsin Naqvi on Monday said he had briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the “International Cricket Council (ICC) matter”, adding that a final decision would be taken either on Friday or next Monday.

The ICC has scheduled a Board meeting for Wednesday to discuss the BCB’s request to move Bangladesh’s matches to Sri Lanka over security concerns in India.

Pakistan are scheduled to tour Bangladesh in March–April 2026 for a full series comprising two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is.

The 13th edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup has seen an unusual casualty list -- not of players, but of matches.

After some last minute negotiations between all stakeholders, the uncertainty over the Group A match between Pakistan and the UAE has seemingly cleared up as the Pakistan team has left the hotel and set off for the Dubai International Stadium for the tie, which is set to begin at 9:30 pm Bangladesh time, an hour later that the original schedule, announced the Asia Cricket Council. 

This will be the first time Pakistan play neighbours Afghanistan in a T20I match on home soil, the PCB said.

Ali has represented Pakistan in 35 T20Is since making his debut in 2020 as well as two ODIs.

Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates will participate in a tri-series of Twenty20 international matches to tune up for next month's Asia Cup followed by the World Cup next year.
