The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that national team's senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin has submitted his resignation letter to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and is set to step down from the post following this month's home series against Ireland.

The BCB confirmed the development in a media release after news broke out earlier in the day that Salahuddin would no longer continue in his role.

"He [Salahuddin] has expressed his desire to step down after the series against Ireland. We will discuss the matter internally before making any further comment," BCB cricket operations committee chairman Nazmul Abedeen Fahim was quoted in the media release.

In recent times, Salahuddin faced criticism over the underwhelming performances of Bangladesh batters across formats.

Salahuddin, who was appointed as senior assistant coach in November 2024, was initially contracted until the ICC Champions Trophy in March 2025, before being handed an extension through to the 2027 ICC World Cup.

Salahuddin previously served as Bangladesh's assistant and fielding coach between 2006 and 2010. He also worked as a specialist coach at the BCB National Cricket Academy from 2010 to 2011.
