Salahuddin quits BCB coaching role
Bangladesh senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin has tendered his resignation to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), citing personal reasons.
Salahuddin confirmed the development to Prothom Alo on Wednesday, adding that he will continue with the national team until the upcoming home series against Ireland.
"Yes, I have sent my resignation letter to the BCB... However, I will stay until the Ireland series. Even after submitting my resignation letter, I will continue to work until the stipulated notice period," Salahuddin said.
The 53-year-old coach admitted that he was "not enjoying" his current role — something he considers vital for his professional satisfaction.
In recent times, Salahuddin has faced criticism over the underwhelming performances of Bangladesh's batters across all formats. Several reports also suggested that he was accused of favouring certain players, which drew further scrutiny.
The situation reportedly worsened after the BCB appointed Mohammad Ashraful as a specialised batting coach for the Ireland series — a move believed to have caused dissatisfaction for Salahuddin.
Salahuddin, who rejoined the national setup last November, was initially contracted until the ICC Champions Trophy in March next year, before being handed an extension through to the 2027 ICC World Cup.
With over two decades of coaching experience, Salahuddin previously served as Bangladesh's assistant and fielding coach between 2006 and 2010. He also worked at the BCB National Cricket Academy and later coached Singapore in the ICC World Cricket League Division 4 in 2014.
Holder of an ACC–Cricket Australia Level 3 accreditation, Salahuddin is regarded as one of Bangladesh's most successful local coaches, having guided multiple teams to Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League titles.
