Champions Trophy 2025

Tigers to bank almost Tk 6 crores despite winless run in Champions Trophy

Bangladesh are set to bank big despite their sorry display in the Champions Trophy.

The Tigers failed to win a single match in the campaign and the only point in their account came from a washout against Pakistan in Rawalpindi on Thursday.

Despite such a debacle, Najmul Hossain Shanto's side are set to bring home Tk 5,76,78,110, courtesy of a participation compensation and finishing sixth in the eight-team tournament.

After England lost their last group-stage match against South Africa in Lahore on Saturday, it was confirmed that Bangladesh will finish the tournament at sixth by virtue of their solitary point and net run-rate after combining both the groups.

Each team were already guaranteed USD 1,25,000 for participating in the competition. The Tigers managed to add USD 3,50,000 to their tournament balance after England finished their campaign by losing all three of their matches which pushed them to the bottom of both Group B as well as in the combined standings.

Hosts Pakistan, on the other hand, missed out on the sixth spot due to a poorer net run-rate in comparison to the Tigers.
