72 lower court judges appointed for urgent cases during court vacation

The government has appointed 72 judicial officers (lower court judges) as vacation judges in different districts across the country in order to deal with urgent civil and criminal cases during the upcoming civil court vacation for a 15-day period, from June 1 to 15.

The appointments have been made with permission and advice from the Supreme Court.

The law ministry issued a notification to this effect today under instruction from the president, saying that the vacation judges will receive, hear and dispose of urgent civil and criminal cases during the vacation period to ensure uninterrupted judicial services.

It said the judges on vacation duty will be entitled to use government vehicles and receive a 15-day vacation allowance in accordance with existing rules.

The judicial officials assigned to vacation duty outside their respective stations will receive travelling allowance and daily allowance as per the rules, according the notification.
