‘Please do better’ Maher Khan to negative commenters
For many fans, the night of May 22 turned into a nostalgic celebration as the popular Bangladeshi rock band Nemesis marked its silver jubilee with a special live concert. The event brought together longtime listeners eager to relive memories attached to the band’s music and legacy.
One of the evening’s biggest surprises came when former guitarist and vocalist Maher Khan appeared on stage with the band after nearly 14 years. His unexpected return instantly created a buzz among concertgoers, while social media was flooded with reactions from fans celebrating the reunion.
Alongside the excitement, however, the comeback also sparked debate online. Some social media users expressed disappointment, claiming they believed Maher had permanently stepped away from music after choosing a more religious path in life.
Responding to the criticism, Maher shared a clarification post on social media on Saturday.
“First, let’s take out the trash. Those who spread negativity and distasteful comments, to you I say: I feel sorry for you for allowing yourselves to stoop down so low. Please do better,” he wrote.
Explaining his decision to perform with the band again, he added, “My decision to be a part of 25 years of Nemesis was my own. This was a one-time, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me. This was about closure and brotherhood. Brotherhood is everything to me.”
Maher further stated that his faith remains unchanged despite his return to the stage.
“I’m still a man of God’s faith and shall choose to remain so,” he wrote.
The artiste also thanked fans for their support and described the experience as “overwhelmingly emotional”, while expressing gratitude to his former bandmates for standing by him over the years.
