5 JCD men held at DU

Detectives detained five activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) on Dhaka University campus for their alleged attempt to bring out a procession supporting the ongoing hartal and blockade this morning.

The detainees were identified as DU unit JCD activists Talukdar Al Mehedi, Roni, Sagor and Rubel, and Khokon, a Shahbagh thana unit member of the student body.

They were picked up in Doyel Chattar area around 8:30am, Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station, told The Daily Star.

The detainees are now under the custody of the Detective Branch of police, the OC added.
