11 sent to jail over Khagrachhari clash
A Khagrachhari court today sent 11 accused to jail for their alleged involvement in attacking law enforcers yesterday.
Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Abul Monsur Siddique passed the order after rejecting bail and remand prayers, reports our Khagrachhari correspondent.
The court directed Sub-Inspector Abdus Salam, also investigation officer of the case, to interrogate the accused at the jail gate.
Earlier yesterday, Israfil Majumder, officer-in-charge of Dighinala Police Station, filed the case against 56 named people, including some leaders of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF), and 700 to 800 unnamed people in connection with the attack.
Police arrested 11 people in this connection, the OC confirmed.
At least six indigenous people and four law enforcers were injured in the clash when the lawmen blocked the Dighinala Bhumi Rakhya Committee's march to 51 Babuchhara BGB Battalion Headquarters yesterday.
Protesting the incident, the committee observed a dawn-to-dusk road blockade in Khagrachhari today.
