Hobart captain pleased with ‘world class’ Rishad

Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain continues to make a strong impression in the Big Bash League, earning praise from Hobart Hurricanes captain Nathan Ellis after another impactful outing against Adelaide Strikers at Bellerive Oval on Friday.

Rishad returned figures of 3 for 26, playing a decisive role in Hobart’s 37-run win, helping them strengthen their position at the top of the table.

With this performance, the 23-year-old has now taken 11 wickets in eight matches in his debut BBL season.

Ellis highlighted Rishad’s composure and fearlessness, particularly when being asked to come and bowl with a shorter boundary on one side.

“There was a short side here tonight and Rishad took it with both hands with a smile on his face. As a captain, it’s very pleasing,” Ellis said after the match.

The Hobart captain termed Rishad ‘world class’ and was also glad that the leg-spinner will be with the side for the entire season.

“I have to give credit to our spinners again; they [Rishad and Rehan Ahmed] have been brilliant for us this year. They are both world-class. We lose Rehan at the back end, but we have Rishad for the tournament, which is good.”
