Bangladesh women's football team cancelled their scheduled morning training session today on the eve of their tomorrow’s SAFF Women's Championship semifinal against Nepal following the death of defender Sheuli Azim's mother.

The training session, scheduled to begin at 7:00am at the Bambolim Athletics Stadium, around 25 kilometres from the team's hotel, was called off after Sheuli's mother passed away early this morning.

Team manager Khalid Mahmud Nowmee confirmed the development.

When asked about the team's next course of action, Nowmee said the management had yet to make a decision and would take immediate steps following discussions and advice from head coach Peter Butler.

Sports journalists covering the ongoing tournament learned of the tragic news after arriving at Bambolim Athletics Stadium for the scheduled training session.
