Railway workers block Malibagh level crossing; train services disrupted
Temporary railway workers of Bangladesh railway staged a sit-in protest at Malibagh level crossing in Dhaka demanding job regularisation.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahjahanpur Police Station Hafizur Rahman told The Daily Star, "The railway workers have been protesting, blocking the railway tracks since 10:00am.
"We're trying to convince them [to leave the tracks]," the OC said.
Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports, rail connectivity between Dhaka and some other districts has been cut off due to the blockade.
A railway official, seeking anonymity, told the daily that two trains -- Rangpur Express and Tangail Commuter -- were stuck at Malibagh in the morning. Since then, the train services have been disrupted.
