Shibir-backed panel sweeps Jucsu polls, independent candidate elected VP
Abdur Rasid Zitu of Swatantra Shikkharthi Sommiloni has been elected the vice president of the Jucsu polls, while Mazharul Islam of the Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed Samonnito Shikkharthi Jote secured the general secretary post.
Zitu received 3,334 votes, while his rival, Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed Arif Ullah Adib got 2,392 votes. Meanwhile, Mazhar bagged 3,930 votes, while his nearest Bangladesh Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangshad (BGCS) candidate Abu Tauhid Mohammad Siam got 1,238.

From the same panel, Ferdous Al Hasan won the assistant general secretary (male) post, and Ayesha Siddiqa Meghla clinched the AGS (female) post.
Hasan received 2,358 votes, while Meghla got 3,402 votes.
Chief Election Commissioner Md Moniruzzaman announced the results of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union elections at the university's Senate Bhaban around 7:20pm.
Of the 25 central executive positions, the Shibir-backed panel won 20 seats. Independent candidate secured three posts -- vice president, sports secretary, and cultural affairs secretary. While, Ganatantrik Chhatra Sangsad bagged two posts.
