JU teacher dies while on Jucsu election duty

A teacher of Jahangirnagar University died this morning while on duty during the vote counting of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (Jucsu) and hall union elections.
Jannatul Ferdous, assistant professor in the Department of Fine Arts, was serving as a polling officer at Pritilata Hall.
Associate Professor Shamim Reza, president of the Fine Arts Department, said, "After polling ended around 6:00pm yesterday, Jannatul Ferdous went home. This morning, around 8:30am, she returned to the Senate Building for the vote counting."
"She suddenly fell ill and collapsed in front of the door to the vote counting room on the third floor," Shamim Reza, also the returning officer at Pritilata Hall polling centre, told The Daily Star.
She was immediately taken to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar, where doctors declared her dead, he added.
According to the JU public relations office, her namaz-e-janaza will be held after Juma prayers today at the university's central mosque.
