Voting for Jucsu polls ends

Voting for the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (Jucsu) election has ended amid allegations of irregularities, mismanagement, and vote rigging.
The vote counting is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm at the Election Commission office.
Voting started at 9:00am today and continued until 5:00pm. A total of 224 booths were set up across 21 halls for the election. This year, 11,919 students were registered as voters. Among the male students' halls, Al Beruni Hall had 210 voters, AFM Kamal Uddin Hall 333, Mir Mosharraf Hossain Hall 464, Shaheed Salam-Barkat Hall 298, Maulana Bhashani Hall 514, Hall No 10 had 522, Shaheed Rafiq-Jabbar Hall 650, Rabindranath Tagore Hall 350, Hall No. 21 had 735, Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall 992, and Tajuddin Ahmed Hall 947 voters.
Among the female students' halls, Nawab Faizunnesa Hall had 279 voters, Jahanara Imam Hall 367, Pritilata Hall 396, Khaleda Zia Hall 403, Sufia Kamal Hall 456, Hall No. 13 had 519, Hall No. 15 had 571, Rokeya Hall 956, Fazilatunnesa Hall 798, and Taramon Bibi Hall 983 voters.
A total of 178 candidates contested for 25 posts. Eight panels participated in the election, supported by leftist groups, Islami Chhatra Shibir, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, and independents.
However, halfway through the day, the Chhatra Dal-backed panel withdrew from the election, alleging widespread vote rigging.
