A delegation of Islamist leaders, led by Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish chief Mamunul Haque, has travelled to Afghanistan on the invitation of the Taliban government.

The seven-member delegation arrived in Kabul yesterday morning, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis said in a press statement today.

Other members of the team include Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh's Nayeb-e-Amir Abdul Hamid (Pir of Madhupur), Abdul Awal, Abdul Haque, Habibullah Mahmud Qasemi, Monir Hossain Qasemi, and Mahbubur Rahman.

During the five-day visit, the delegation will hold meetings with the Afghan Chief Justice, several ministers, senior scholars, and high-ranking Taliban officials.

They will also observe the human rights and women's rights situation in Afghanistan, which has drawn widespread criticism in Western circles, according to the statement.

The discussions will prioritise strengthening ties between scholars of the two countries, enhancing diplomatic relations, and boosting cooperation in trade, healthcare, and education.

The delegation is also scheduled to visit areas affected by the recent earthquake.

On September 14, the delegation travelled to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and held a meeting with expatriates in Makkah to prepare for the upcoming Khatme Nabuwat Conference in Bangladesh on November 15.

After completing Umrah, the team flew to Kabul via Dubai. Mamunul Haque is also expected to visit several other Central Asian countries as part of the tour.
