BNP marks Labour Day with rally at Nayapaltan

BNP leaders and activists gathered at Nayapaltan in Dhaka to attend the party's rally marking the Labour Day today.
The event, titled "Workers' Rally", has been organised by the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal. It began around 2:10pm with a recitation from the Holy Quran.
Leaders from the party's district and city units are currently addressing the gathering.
Chanting slogans, the party activists and supporters began arriving in front of the party's central office in Nayapaltan from 12:00pm.

They came in small processions from different city wards and nearby districts, carrying red caps, T-shirts, colourful placards, and banners.
Artists from the Jatiotabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas) were seen performing songs on a stage set up in front of the party office.
Despite a light drizzle that began around 12:30pm, the pre-event excitement continued with performers carrying on with their songs.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has joined the programme virtually as the chief guest, with the party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir attending as a special guest.
Other than Mirza Fakhrul, standing committee members Nazrul Islam Khan and Mirza Abbas are also present at the venue.

According to the organisers, 12 demands on behalf of workers will be presented at the event.
Meanwhile, vehicular movement in the area has been restricted to one side of the road.
