Mild tremor felt in parts of Bangladesh; another strikes Bay
A mild earthquake was felt in parts of Bangladesh, including Chattogram, early today.
The 4.9-magnitude tremor was recorded at 12:55am, said meteorologist Shahnaj Sultana of Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The epicentre was in Myanmar's Mingin, about 431km southeast of the BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon, she added.
Meanwhile, a moderate earthquake of 4.2 magnitude struck the Bay of Bengal at 7:56am Bangladesh time, according to the National Center for Seismology under India's Ministry of Earth Sciences.
The epicentre was located at latitude 20.56°N and longitude 92.31°E, with a depth of 35km, the agency said.
