MES building at Dhaka Cantonment declared as sub-jail

The government has declared a building in Dhaka Cantonment as a sub-jail under the provisions of the Prisoners Act, 1984.

According to a gazette notification issued by the home ministry yesterday, the building, identified as MES Building no. 54, located north of Bashar Road in Dhaka Cantonment, has been designated as a temporary jail .

The declaration was made with the approval of the authorities concerned and will come into effect immediately, it added.

The order was signed by Md Hafiz-al-Asad, deputy secretary of the home ministry, and issued on behalf of the president.
