Journo ‘assaulted’ after writing against BNP leader

A local journalist was allegedly assaulted in Char Rajibpur upazila of Kurigram on Sunday night for publishing a report against a local BNP leader.
The journalist, Sujan Mahmud, works as Rajibpur upazila correspondent of the Daily Khola Kagoj.
The injured journalist has received primary treatment at Char Rajibpur Upazila Health Complex, said Dr Hasibur Rahman, resident medical officer.
Sujan said all the attackers were the followers of Char Rajibpur upazila BNP's former president Mokhlesur Rahman.
"I was with my colleagues at Computer Goli of Rajibpur Bazar, when a group of 30 to 35 BNP men went there and attacked me."
Sujan said he published a report on January 3 bringing allegations of irregularities against the BNP leader.
Contacted, Mokhlesur, who is now in Dhaka, said he has no idea about the incident.
If his followers have done anything to any journalist, he will take action once he goes to the area, he said.
Taslim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Char Rajibpur Police Station, said he heard about the attack on a journalist.
If he receives any written complaint over the attack, he will take legal action, he said.
