Nine Indians pushed into Bangladesh by BSF, detained by BGB

India's Border Security Force (BSF) has pushed nine Indian nationals into Bangladesh through the Kurigram border.

The incident took place early today when BSF forced them into Bangladesh territory through the Dhaluabari border area, under Kedar union in Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram. Among them were three men and six women.

Later, while they were moving through various roads after reaching Saheberkhas area of the union. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained them from several locations, including Goler Haat and Kochakata Bazar.

One of the detainees, Shahar Ali of Malegarh area under Jubigoba Police Station in Bongaigaon district of Assam, India, said that BSF brought them from a detention camp and pushed them across the barbed-wire fence under the cover of darkness.

There were nine people in their group, he said.

Confirming the development, Lt Col Mohammad Mahbub-ul-Haq, commanding officer of Kurigram-22 BGB Battalion, said that necessary steps would be taken to send them back.
