Dhaka’s air most polluted in the world this morning

Dhaka has ranked as the city with the worst air quality in the world, recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 392 at 9:00am today, a level classified as "hazardous."
An AQI between 151 and 200 is said to be 'unhealthy' while 201 and 300 is considered 'very unhealthy', and 301 to 400 is considered 'hazardous', posing serious health risks to residents.
Mongolia's Ulaanbaatar, India's Kolkata and Pakistan's Lahore occupied the second, third and fourth places with AQI of 229, 215 and 206 respectively.
In Bangladesh, the AQI measures pollution levels based on five criteria pollutants: Particulate Matter (PM10 and PM2.5), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), and Ozone.
Dhaka, the overcrowded capital of Bangladesh has been battling severe air pollution for years, with the situation worsening during the dry winter months and improving slightly during the monsoon season.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution is a leading global health threat, causing an estimated seven million deaths annually. The primary health risks include increased rates of stroke, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, and acute respiratory infections.
