Bangladesh Navy rescued 33 Rohingyas, including children, from the Bay of Bengal near St Martin's Island while they were heading to Malaysia.
They were on a trawler and were rescued 2 nautical miles away from the northwest Bay of Bengal early today.
The Navy's "Banauja Ali Haider" ship conducted the rescue operation, its Commander Captain Sohel Azam told our Cox's Bazar correspondent.
The rescued Rohingya refugees are from Ukhia and Teknaf camps. They were handed over to St Martin's island coastguards, the official added.
