One killed in multi-vehicle crash on Dhaka-Mawa highway

A man was killed and several others were injured in a series of crashes involving multiple vehicles due to dense fog on Dhaka-Mawa highway in Munshiganj's Srinagar early today.
The death of Forhad, 40, was confirmed by Srinagar Health Complex doctor Camellia Sarker.
Forhad was brought dead at the hospital, Camellia told The Daily Star.
The accident took place in Shologhar area around 6:00am, according to Abdul Quader Jilani, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hasara Highway Police Station.
The OC explained that the chain of crashes began when a lorry struck a private car from behind on the Mawa-bound lane. Shortly after, a bus also hit the private car, followed by a microbus hitting the back of the lorry. Several passenger buses later crashed into the bus ahead, exacerbating the pile-up.
Dewa Azad, station officer of Srinagar Fire Service, said that 10-15 people were injured in the accident. He added that further details about the incident would be provided after more information is collected.
It remains unclear in which vehicle Forhad was travelling at the time of the accident.
