Mirsharai dredger capsize: 4 victims buried in Patuakhali
The bodies of four workers, who died after a dredger capsized in the Bay of Bengal in Chattogram's Mirsharai area during cyclonic storm Sitrang, were buried in Patuakhali this morning (October 27, 2022).
They were buried at their respective homes around 7:30am after their namaz-e-janaza, our local correspondent reports.
The four were Imam Molla, Mahmud Molla, Al Amin and Zahid Fakir. All of them were from Jainkathi village in Patuakhali Sadar upazila.
An ambulance carrying the bodies reached Jainkathi village around 4:00am, local union parishal chairman Syed Mohsin said.
He also said that the body of another worker, who died in the same incident was recovered last night. The body of Alam Sarder is being taken to Patuakhali also.
Patuakhali Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (land) Abdul Hai said the local administration is providing Tk 10,000 to each of the victims' families. They will be given more financial assistance if needed, he said.
