Fire at another Ctg container depot, doused

A fire that broke out at a private container Depot in Patenga of Chattogram city last night has been doused.

The fire broke out at a cotton-laden container at Vertex Container Depot around 8:45pm, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent quoting Md Shahidullah, sub-officer of Karnaphuli EPZ Fire Service and Civil Defence.

On information, two firefighting units reached the spot around 9:00 pm and doused the blaze within a very short time, the officer said.

The fire created panic among the depot workers and residents of nearby areas.

The flame could not spread to the nearby container due to rain, he said.

The reason behind the fire and extent of losses from the fire could not be known immediately.

On June 4, a devastating fire broke out at BM Container Depot in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram.  At one stage of extinguishing the fire, an explosion went off at the depot killing 47 people.
