BRT girder tragedy: Probe body finds negligence of Chinese contractor

A probe committee found negligence of a Chinese contractor behind yesterday's accident in Uttara that left five people dead.

Road Transport and Highway Division Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Nuri briefed reporters at the Secretariat today (August 16, 2022).

The six-member probe committee has submitted the preliminary report to the government today.

BRT girder tragedy: Preliminary probe report submitted

Five members of a family, including two children, were crushed to death yesterday (August 15, 2022) after a girder of the BRT project in Uttara fell from a crane on their car.

A newlywed couple also travelling with them, fortunately escaped death.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges yesterday formed the committee to investigate the tragedy.

Uttara crash: Chinese contractor firm officials, crane operator sued for causing death by negligence 

Nilima Akhter, additional secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Division, has been made the head of the committee.

A case has been filed in connection with the incident.
