Get your spooks on this Halloweekend
YouTuber and makeup artist Raisa Naushin is rocking up this Halloween with her special effects spook makeup. The self-taught young makeup guru just gave her Higher Secondary School exams and is waiting to enroll in university at the moment.
Her biggest support system is the thousands of followers on her channel and Facebook page. Raisa's true passion is making tutorials that are informative and interesting.
"I started out with my YouTube channel, but as the number of my subscribers grew and I saw their appreciation, I began trying out new roles. I now do bridal, party and special effects makeup for my clients," she said.
Her journey started two years ago when she won the first makeup competition in Bangladesh that was organised by NTV Online and Woman's World. She beat 1,800 other contestants in several rounds of different makeup looks to take the first position.
Raisa Naushin believes there is a huge scope for special effects makeup to prosper in Bangladesh. However, Raisa also gets her share of criticism for her work from fans and even fellow makeup artists. "They say all sorts of random things like 'it is culturally inappropriate' or 'We live in a conservative country, we don't celebrate Halloween'."
"Just as an artist uses paper to create beautiful art, I use a person's face as a canvas. It is an art form for me," was her earnest reply.
