42nd Batch of SMUCT marks graduation with fashion showcase
The 42nd Graduation Fashion Show by the Department of Fashion Design and Technology at Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology (SMUCT) took place on 11 October 2025, at the BGMEA Complex Auditorium in Uttara. The event showcased the final collections of 43 graduating students, marking the culmination of their academic journeys.
Designed around four conceptual themes — Aqua Eden, Scarlet Spirit, Journey of Emotion, and Roots & Geometry — the show offered a balanced mix of structure, fluidity, identity, and introspection.
Aqua Eden drew from nature and water, with pieces featuring fluid forms and organic textures. Scarlet Spirit embraced bold silhouettes and vibrant hues that conveyed empowerment and individuality. Journey of Emotion explored inner transformation through colour and movement. Roots & Geometry juxtaposed raw, earthy elements with architectural lines, highlighting the connection between nature and structure.
Forty-three students, namely Efaz Ahmed, Ayesha Siddika Liza, Md Imran Hossen, and Umme Jamila, stood out for their execution of thematic clarity and craftsmanship. Each designer interpreted the assigned concept through a personal lens, resulting in collections that were cohesive yet individually distinct.
The event was attended by faculty, industry professionals, alumni, and representatives from leading fashion houses, including Aarong, ZXY, Palmal, Otto International, Hamim, and Debonair. Recruiters engaged with graduates during post-show interactions, reaffirming the university's role in bridging academia and industry.
This year's show didn't rely on theatrics or embellishment — it focused on storytelling through fabric, silhouette, and detail. The collections demonstrated technical skill, conceptual maturity, and an understanding of contemporary fashion narratives.
The 42nd batch leaves behind a strong statement: fashion is not just about aesthetics, but about expressing identity, context, and change.
