Heading near Madaripur? Then try their mouth-watering Tk 3 egg chop!

When it comes to finding the best food or tourist places to visit in any location, no online review or fancy travel video can compete with the recommendations of the locals. They know the hidden gems, the best times to visit, and the spots that truly represent the soul of their culture, helping you avoid overhyped tourist traps. In Madaripur Sadar, one such local favourite is the "3-taka egg chop", which you will not even find online. It is a top recommendation from countless passers-by, making it a must-try for anyone exploring the Sadar Upazila.

Jahid Howlader, the man behind this beloved street food stall, shares, "It's been 12 years since I opened this shop. I started with puris and egg chops at just Tk 1 each, but now they are priced at Tk 3 per piece. The customers you see here are all my regulars. They keep coming back because the items are affordable."

Hridoy, a college student and a regular customer, shares, "This is our go-to evening meal. I have been coming here for years. When I first came here, the price was Tk 1.5 per piece. Although it's Tk 3 per piece now, it does not matter, it's still the best."

Even if you arrive at the spot, do not expect to get your order instantly, as most customers buy 20 to 30 pieces at a time, for friends and family.

The preparation process of the egg chop is as straightforward as its price. The hard-boiled eggs are cut into 10-12 small pieces, dipped in batter and thrown into hot oil. Each fresh batch goes straight onto plates or into packets for the customers.

By 7 PM, we were lucky to get the last batch of egg chops. "This is the final batch of egg chops for today but alu puris will still be served for a while longer," Howlader says.

The 3-taka egg chop is not just about affordability — it represents the richness of street food culture in Bangladesh. It also showcases how something as simple as an egg chop, when prepared with care, can create a deep connection with the community.

So, if you are ever in Madaripur, should you try this 3-Taka egg chop? Absolutely!

You will not only get a taste of something delicious but also experience the warmth and hospitality of the locals around you.

Location

The shop stands near "10 No. Bridge", New Bus Terminal. Interestingly, there is no signboard, but finding the shop is not difficult at all — just ask for the '3-taka egg chop stall', and the locals will guide you like Google Maps. The crowd gathered around is enough to tell you that you have arrived at the right spot.

You will spot a tin-shaded store, with two people busily preparing food on one side and a group of friends sitting on a Sheetal Pati (Mat) on the other, chatting and laughing. The scene is a blend of work and leisure, reflecting the lively atmosphere of the place.
