Prevention of plastic pollution stressed

Proper waste management is necessary to prevent pollution caused by the release of toxic substances of plastic into soil, water and air, to protect humans and nature, said speakers at a meeting in Khulna on Wednesday.

The meeting on the research project "Sustainable Capacity Building to Reduce Irreversible Pollution by Plastics" was held at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (Kuet).

Md Saiful Islam, dean of Civil Engineering Faculty of Kuet, chaired the event where Prof Md Rafizul Islam, director of the project, delivered welcome speech.

University Grants Commission member Muhammed Alamgir, a scientific expert of the project, also spoke.
