‘Wicked: For Good’ final trailer reveals Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as unlikely allies
Universal Pictures has unveiled the final trailer for "Wicked: For Good", the sequel to director Jon M Chu's 2024 musical fantasy hit. Running three minutes and five seconds, the trailer continues the story after the events of the first film, revealing how the friendship between Ariana Grande's Glinda and Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba evolves against the backdrop of a divided Oz.
The footage opens with Elphaba, now branded the "Wicked Witch of the West," hiding deep within the enchanted forests, while Glinda commands the spotlight as a dazzling public figure in the Emerald City—balancing fame, political influence and a carefully managed persona.
Tensions rise when a furious mob vows to hunt down Elphaba, forcing the two women to confront their shared past and the lingering pain of betrayal. In a pivotal moment, Glinda turns to her former friend and asks, "Think of what we could do together," setting the stage for an alliance that could alter the fate of all Oz. Their bond, once fractured, becomes the fulcrum on which the story's future rests, demanding honesty, empathy and personal transformation.
The trailer also offers a first look at Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, alongside Bowen Yang and Bronwyn James, who round out the principal cast.
Directed by Jon M Chu and featuring music by John Powell and Stephen Schwartz, "Wicked: For Good" opens in theatres on November 21.
