We are slowly losing our inspirations: Ferdous remembers Farooque
Actor Ferdous first starred against Dhallywood's 'Mia Bhai' in a film titled, "Ghorer Lokkhi". That was the start of a beautiful friendship between the actors from two different generations, that continued until Farooque's demise.
Reminiscing about that friendship, Ferdous sat down with The Daily Star to talk about it.
"Farooque bhai was salt of the earth, he had a child-like innocence to him. He didn't like problems and had the uncanny ability to love people fiercely. He loved and respected everyone equally, which is a testament of his rare kindness".
"I have been a fan of him since childhood, having watched many of his films during my student life. His portrayal of rural characters is incomparable, he could move people to tears with such portrayals. Another amazing trait that he had was his love for this country's cinema. He was a patron of the Bangladeshi film industry and that's whom we have lost. He was always looking for ways to develop Dhaka's films, you can't do that if you don't have a good heart."
The actor also added that Farooque was a well-spoken person, someone who was well versed in other sectors like politics, civic duty, society, cinema and much more. He also dubbed Farooque 'the rural protagonist' for his portrayal of such characters as well as his popularity, which spread to every corner of the country.
"His farewell was just as bustling as his life, with so many people flocking to say good-bye to their favourite actor. From Central Shaheed Minar to Azad mosque, we can tell from the flocks of people gathered, how much they adored him. Not to mention his own locality, where people from all walks of life loved him very much."
"One by one a lot of senior and talented artistes are leaving us", continued the actor. "We are slowly losing our inspirations, that is truly sorrowful."
