Sohel Rana returns to the mic with podcast ‘Ami Sohel Rana’

Legendary Bangladeshi actor, director, and producer Masud Parvez, better known by his iconic screen name Sohel Rana, is stepping into a new role. 

This time, the silver-screen veteran trades the camera for a microphone with his upcoming weekly podcast "Ami Sohel Rana", premiering today on the Eyes On Studio YouTube channel at 10 pm every Friday.

The series grows out of the warm response Rana received after joining Eyes On Studio's special Eid programming earlier this year. That appearance prompted viewers to ask for more; the actor and the producers have answered with a 12-episode first season in which Rana will speak candidly about his film career, colleagues and the stories behind some of his most memorable roles.

"I received an extraordinary response from the Eid programme," Rana told The Daily Star. "Many said they wanted to hear more. So I returned — now I have the space to tell the whole story. One day I will not be here, but these words from my life will remain."

"Ami Sohel Rana" promises a conversational tone– part memoir, part oral history, and part industry roundtable. For younger audiences, it will offer an intimate primer on the trajectory of Bangladeshi cinema; for longtime fans, it will be an opportunity to hear the actor reflect on a career that has spanned decades.
