Short film ‘Nidrasur’ explores the struggles of sleeplessness

Filmmaker Sohel Rana Boyati, who began his career with short films, released his first full-length feature "Noya Manush" at the end of last year. The film portrayed the lives of hardworking people in river islands and the unpredictable nature of life.
Now, Boyati has returned to the short film format with "Nidrasur," also titled "Sweet Sleep" in English. Based on a story by Jahangir Hossain Apon, the film explores the universal struggle for peaceful rest. Despite people's best efforts, many fail to sleep due to various reasons, leading to psychological and physical challenges that make life unbearable. "Nidrasur" portrays the journey of one such sleepless individual.

The cast of the film includes Omar Malik, Runa Khan, Md Iqbal Hossain, Sanchita Dutta, Ashiq Sarkar, and Kakon Chowdhury in significant roles.
Speaking about the project, Sohel Rana Boyati said, "My main goal is to make films. I began my career with short films. After a long time, working on another short film has brought me great joy. Alongside feature films, I want to continue making short films as well. I want to portray people's stories."
Actress Runa Khan shared her experience, saying, "I played the role of psychiatrist Anannya. This is the first time I've taken on such a character. In the film, the director has focused on a profound crisis of our urban mechanical lives. I really liked the choice of subject for the film."

Actor Omar Malik added, "The story of 'Nidrasur' fascinated me so much that I was determined to complete the project despite various challenges. I hope 'Nidrasur' will win hearts at different film festivals at home and abroad, as well as among audiences."
The filmmaker also confirmed that after completing censorship and other formalities, preparations are underway to submit "Nidrasur" to both local and international film festivals.
