Is Shakib Khan really charging 1 crore for a film?
For the last decade, Shakib Khan's remuneration was around Tk 40 to 50 lacs. After the star's film "Priyotoma" became commercially successful, it is being speculated that Khan has raised his remuneration to Tk 1 crore.
Rumours also suggest that the actor has asked this amount for at least five to six films that he has been recently offered. However, all of the contracts are stuck due to such high demand.
Khan did not clarify anything about the payment to the media yet. Although he used to shoot for 10-12 films a year even five years ago, the actor has now decided take up fewer films a year, those which will be released worldwide.
A few days ago, Khan has returned the advance payment taken for the Badiul Alam Khokon's film "Neel Doriya". "Before Shakib went to the USA, he took Tk 40 lacs as advance payment, however, after his return he is asking for Tk 1 crore, and now he doesn't want to do the project anymore," the director told The Daily Star.
Last Eid-ul-Azha, Himel Ashraf directorial film, "Priyotoma" was profited over Tk 40 crore, which was confirmed by the production house of the film.
This has, in turn, encouraged Shakib Khan to be more selective about taking up any further films, including a rise in his remuneration.
Jahid Hasan from Tiger Media, the digital partner of "Priyotoma" told The Daily Star, "The amount of business we did from 20 movies in the last five years, just the songs of "Priyotoma" have surpassed on social media platforms, in terms of revenue.
