Shah Rukh Khan to host Filmfare Awards after 17 years

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is set to return as host of the Filmfare Awards in 2025, marking his first time taking on the role since 2008. According to the organisers' announcement on Tuesday, he will be joined by Maniesh Paul and Karan Johar in co-hosting the prestigious ceremony.

Yesterday, Filmfare announced the news through its official Instagram page, writing: "The Superstar, The Icon, The Enigma, hold your hearts, because the one and only Shah Rukh Khan is set to co-host the much-awaited 70th Hyundai Filmfare Awards 2025 with Gujarat Tourism, scheduled for October 11 at Eka Arena in Ahmedabad."

Shah Rukh Khan has hosted the Filmfare Awards several times in the past, most famously with Saif Ali Khan in 2003 and 2004. He later teamed up with Karan Johar in 2007, and in 2008 co-hosted the 53rd edition alongside Saif, Karan, and Vidya Balan — marking his last full hosting stint at the ceremony. 

Known for bringing his signature humour and wit to the stage, Shah Rukh's chemistry with Saif, in particular, won audiences over with their playful jibes and dry comedy. Since then, the actor has only appeared as a guest host for select segments on a few occasions.

The 70th Filmfare Awards are set to take place on October 11 at EKA Arena by Kankaria Lake in Ahmedabad. This will be the first time the prestigious event is being hosted in Gujarat, following an MoU signed in Gandhinagar between the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) and Worldwide Media Private Limited, in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
