Syed Abdul Hadi to be honoured at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy

Renowned singer Syed Abdul Hadi, who has enriched Bangla music for more than half a century with his melodious voice and gifted listeners a string of timeless songs, is set to be honoured with a special award by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in recognition of his outstanding contribution to music. The academy confirmed the decision yesterday.

The award ceremony, titled “Timeless Voice, Respect and Love for Syed Abdul Hadi”, will be held on June 12 at 6:00pm at the main auditorium of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The event will feature performances by contemporary artistes, who will present some of Syed Abdul Hadi’s most popular and enduring songs. In addition, various aspects of his long and illustrious musical journey will be highlighted.

Organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the programme will be attended by prominent cultural personalities from across the country.

Syed Abdul Hadi remains one of the most celebrated figures in Bangladesh’s music industry. Since the 1960s, he has achieved widespread popularity across modern songs, patriotic numbers, and film music. His iconic tracks, including “Ekbar Jodi Keu Bhalobasto”, “Shob Kota Janala Khule Dao Na”, and “Je Matir Buke Ghumiye Ache”, have cemented his status as a musical legend.

In recognition of his contributions, he has received numerous accolades over the years, including multiple National Film Awards.

It is also worth noting that, as part of its ongoing tradition of honouring eminent artistes, the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy previously conferred a special award on renowned singer Sabina Yasmin.
