Tilottoma revives ‘Mahanayak’s Song’ for Durga Puja celebration
To mark this year's Durga Puja, singer Tahsin Farzana Tilottoma, daughter of the legendary Bangladeshi actor Bulbul Ahmed, has lent her voice to a special remake of the classic track "Janam Janam Dhore Prem Piyasi". The song, originally from "Devdas"—based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's timeless novel and featuring Bulbul Ahmed—has been released as part of "Mahanayoker Gaan" Season 2, presented by Seylon Tea.
This is the second track of the six-song season, with Tilottoma performing all the numbers. The first release, "Duti Mon Jokhon Kachhe Elo" from the film "Sangini", premiered on September 4 to coincide with Bulbul Ahmed's birth anniversary and was widely praised by listeners.
Other upcoming tracks from this season include "Hajar Moner Kachhe Proshno Rekhe", "Jonmo Theke Jolchhi Mago", "Abar Dujone Dekha Holo", and "Dukkho Bhalobese Premer Khela Khelte Hoy".
The latest release became available from September 30 on Seylon Tea's official YouTube channel. Organisers believe this new presentation will bring Bulbul Ahmed's artistic legacy alive once again for audiences.
Tilottoma had previously worked on her father's songs in 2013, releasing an album titled "Mahanayoker Gaan". The project later drew the attention of Seylon Tea, which officially launched Season 1 in 2023.
